Applying for Accommodation
Gaining a place in a university hall of residence
The majority of rooms in halls are made available to new students coming to study at the University of Greenwich for the first time - 1st year and direct entry students - arriving in September for the entire academic session. Applications are welcome at any time in advance of the session but offers of accommodation will be dependent upon student status.
Full-time enrolled students of the university can, of course, apply for accommodation in halls at any time during their course of study. Vacancies do occur during the academic year and it is often possible to move in to a room after term has started – however rooms are subject to availability and it is often not possible for staff to say exactly when a room will become available.
A small number of rooms are made available in each academic session to continuing students – applications will usually open in February before the September start of a new academic session.
The application process differs depending on which of the above circumstances apply.
Wanting a place in hall for the start of the next academic session in September. If you are a new student beginning your programme of study in January please contact the Accommodation Office directly. You will normally be invited to apply from the October before your programme begins.

International applicants
Please note that the confirmation of accommodation/housing address is no longer a necessary requirement for student visa applications. For further information, please contact the International Office, e-mail international@gre.ac.uk.
Please note that if your visa is refused you must contact the Accommodation Service immediately to advise them of your change of circumstances. If you are not advised of a refusal until after the start of your licence agreement then it is likely you will forefit some or all of the deposit you paid to secure your room in halls.
