University of Greenwich Swine Flu Statement
Friday, April 24, 2009
You will be aware from the media that the government has begun to implement its contingency plans to deal with a flu pandemic and has launched a national information campaign.
The university has been working closely with the health authorities to ensure that we are prepared. A small team is meeting regularly to keep the situation under review and is updating our plans as necessary.
The advice for individuals at the moment is that we should all be following the guidelines provided by the government at: http://www.direct.gov.uk.
These cover the importance of good hygiene, such as hand-washing, guidance on what to do if you have flu-like symptoms, and advice on travelling abroad. Everyone has an important role to play in protecting themselves and others.
You can also get information from the Swine Flu Line on 0800 151 3513.
From today, the university will post information about swine flu on the university web site, so that staff and students can access it from home, as well as on campus. Please check the site regularly for updates; there will be a link from the front page. Managers are asked to print copies for colleagues, contractors and others who do not have access to the internet.
