Welcome to the homepage of Department of Accounting and Finance, University of Greenwich Business School, London, the United Kingdom

The department is one of the largest accounting and finance departments in the UK with around thirty academic members of staff as well as a large visiting faculty. The majority of our staff have professional backgrounds in the accounting and finance professions and are highly regarded academics with recognised accounting qualifications and/or high level financial services experience.

Situated at the World Heritage site in historical Maritime Greenwich and in close proximity to the world's foremost financial centre at Canary Wharf, the department teaches approximately one thousand students on the undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes and from Septemeber 2007 this will also include students on our new innovative MBA Financial Services programme. In excess of two hundred and fifty undergraduate and one hundred postgraduate students are admitted every year and the Department is extremely proud of the international mix of its student body, employability of graduates and career record of its former students.

The Department has established many successful joint programmes and franchises internationally, including partnerships with Kavala Greece, ABRS Hong Kong (China), TMC Singapore and Shanghai, in China.

The department has close links with the professional bodies in accounting and financial services and most of our degree programmes offer significant exemptions from the examinations of the major professional bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

In addition to their international research, consultancy activities and active collaboration with academics in Europe, China, South America, Africa and Australia, members of the Department maintain close relationships with various highly regarded financial institutions, international institutions, accounting and professional bodies, corporations and consultancies.

Many members of the Department possess international renown in their field and have published in reputable academic and practitioner journals. The research work of the Department covers a wide range of accounting, financial services and finance topics. The department initiated and leads the international collaboration in the area of Accounting and Finance in Transition which has resulted in a highly successful annual conference series.
