Undergraduate Economics Programmes
Economics
Our programmes in Economics will give you the knowledge and practical skills to meet the demands of both national and international employers.
Economics is concerned with some of the most important issues which affect us all – employment, income, prices, housing, poverty, the distribution of income and wealth, the environment and pollution, leisure, government spending on services such as health, education and transport, competitiveness, investment, productivity and growth, international trade and finance. There are very few aspects of our lives that cannot be analysed from an economic perspective, evaluating and comparing the costs and benefits of alternative courses of action.
A degree in economics will provide numerical, analytical and descriptive skills, and through the study of economics you will learn how to extract the essential elements from complex issues and gain an understanding of the relationship between the different elements. You will learn how to think in a careful and precise way, how to analyse problems and communicate your findings effectively. All of these skills, developed through the study of economics, are valued in a wide range of careers.
