Applicants for this maths SKE courses must have accepted a firm offer of a place on a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary Maths programme or Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) commencing in 2012. The Initial Teacher Education provider does not have to be the same provider that is delivering the SKE course.

This course is specifically for:

Sessions will cover a wide range of knowledge and skills including

  • Handling data
  • Shape, space and measures
  • Number and algebra
  • Using and applying maths
  • Introduction to A-level core

The course is non-residential, free to participants and includes workshops,  school experience and directed study. At the end of the course a summary report will be issued to each trainee's ITE provider outlining the learning achieved and will include an attendence report and personal feedback on session participation.

During the course there will be various assessments including presentations and exam papers.

Participants will be expected to have 100% attendance and engage fully with workshops and directed study.
