Student Associates Scheme

Interested in learning more about teaching?

Would you like to gain valuable paid experience of working alongside teachers in a secondary school to help youngsters?

 

This scheme gives the opportunity to:

  • work with secondary-school pupils in Greenwich, east London and the Medway Towns;
  • gain school experience in maths, physics, chemistry, ICT or DT subject areas
  • work alongside teachers;
  • use your specialist expertise to enhance learning;
  • be a positive role model for youngsters and help raise their awareness, achievement and aspirations;
  • develop your application for initial teacher training;
  • be involved in the widening participation agenda.

As a student associate you will:

  • receive the equivalent of two full days of university based training;
  • be placed in a secondary school to work alongside qualified teachers and contribute to school-initiated projects;
  • receive a £600 training bursary for the school placement.

Please note that due to changes in SAS funding, we can only offer placements in maths, chemistry, physics, ICT and Design and Technology. Placements must be completed and the evidence submitted by 10th July 2011.
