The First GMI PhD Graduates

The Greenwich Maritime Institute are delighted to offer congratulations to Dr Robert Forrester and Dr Cathryn Pearce who graduated the Award Ceremony on 18th July 2007. These are the first two PhD students to graduate through the GMI and the achievement is therefore particularly poignant.

 

Dr Robert Forrester completed the following thesis under the supervision of Professor Sarah Palmer and Professor Roger Knight:

The General Steam Navigation Company c. 1850-1913: A Business History

 

Dr Cathryn Pearce completed the following thesis under the supervision of Professor Sarah Palmer and Dr John Dunne:

'So Barbarous a Practice': Cornish Wrecking, c. 1700-1860, and its Survival as a Popular Myth
