Roger Morriss teaches mainly in the Department of History in the University of Exeter, where he specialises in British naval and maritime history. Previously he worked at the National Maritime Museum for seventeen years, where his main attachment was to the manuscripts section. He is a specialist in dockyards at the time of Nelson and, arising out of that interest, is his recent book, Naval Power and British Culture, 1770-1840 (2004). His current research focuses on the logistics of transportation and supply to Britain’s armed forces in the eighteenth century.
