Integrated marketing and operations logistics strategies within business, and between businesses, have gained increasing acceptance by managers. There is a growing recognition that it is through marketing/logistics and supply chain management that the twin goals of cost reduction and service enhancement can be achieved. This is especially true in today’s global shipping environment. The course seeks to give managers an understanding of marketing and operations in shipping, an appreciation of the relevant major issues, and in particular the competitive advantages to be achieved in this area.
