The Maritime Business Environment

In today’s world all managers are required to be sensitive to the range of different social, political, legal and economic elements that make up the complex international environment in which they operate. Those managing in the maritime sphere must also take account of an increasing degree of regional and international regulation resulting from concerns for safety, human security and demands for conservation of ocean resources. This course will help to ensure that participants are aware of the most recent trends and have the necessary tools to enable them to anticipate, interpret and exploit change. Students will be able to analyse the main trends in the development of the maritime sector since the 1970s and be able to relate these to global political and economic issues.
