International Foundation Diploma with Cultural Studies

Programme Leader

Louise Bell

You should apply for this diploma if you are interested in the opportunity to improve your English and acquire skills needed for studying at undergraduate level in a UK university. IFDCS is a one year pre-degree diploma designed for students whose first language is not English but who have been educated in English and wish to study at a British university.

The diploma aims to develop your academic study skills; in particular, writing, group work, and presenting. You will also study a range of subjects that will provide you with a suitable grounding for pursuing further studies at undergraduate degree. These include a course that examines the contemporary British culture and looks at Britain's historical links with the world, as well as courses in business, mathematics and computing.

A variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars and group and individual tutorials are used on the programme. Students on the programme have full access to university facilities, including the library, language centre and computer access.

Entry to the IFDCS is possible in September or January.

Courses

There are a number of optional courses that you may take in order to study in greater depth any subject that you find particularly interesting.
