The LLB Hons Degree

This programme is aimed at students who wish to obtain a qualifying law degree, whether for entry into the legal profession, or for other purposes.

The programme provides a knowledge of substantive law. It also develops the skills of reasoning, analysis and synthesis. Wherever possible, seeks to place law in the wider context of social, political, moral and economic issues. More specifically the programme provides a sound academic education in law It is forward-looking, particularly with respect to Europe and technological change, and equips students with both legal and transferable skills.

The options enable students to acquire a more complete legal education, so they are able to take up a career in law or other professions.

This programme enables students to:

  • develop a thorough knowledge of the substantive principles of law in both the core courses and those studied as options
  • gain the ability to identify and explain relevant legal principles, to apply them to given factual situations and to see the relationship between various aspects of the law
  • develop good communication skills in a variety of media
