The History team comprises five historians whose research and teaching interests range across period and region. History has been taught to degree level at Greenwich for many years, and the BA History programme was first introduced in 1993. The BA History programme is located at the Old Royal Naval College at Maritime Greenwich, providing our historians with a unique and splendid environment in which to study the past. History is now a vibrant and thriving discipline at Greenwich and in 2004 the Higher Education Funding Council confirmed its confidence in the quality and rigour of our programmes.

The BA History degree provides a broad and flexible training in the discipline. Our staff offer a range of courses in social, cultural, political and economic history, covering topics as diverse as apartheid South Africa and twentieth century British social history.

Research

The history team also run the History Research Activity Group, which provides a focal point for research activities and coordinates research links with colleagues in other parts of the School and university.
