Research & Enterprise

The research interests of the Politics Research Group reflect a thematic diversity, with particular research questions and topics located within the areas of British Politics, International politics of the EU, and Regionalism and Global Governance. The politics research strategy is guided by two concerns: developing substantive research output through individual and collaborative research on the one hand, and on the other hand, strengthening dissemination activities through closer links with the local and international political practitioner community. While the distinct research themes in the group reflect the interests of the individual researchers, there is also a degree of overlap and complementarity that enhances the collaboration among the politics group in certain areas of common interest. The underlying strategy of the politics research group has increasingly been based upon a two-fold approach:
(1) the study of politics in national policy, and
(2) the study of regional and global public policy and governance, and the international political processes associated with the European Union's external relations.
