BA (Hons) Sociology / Combined Degrees

This Programme examines a range of issues including gender and ethnicity, crime and deviance, social justice, global politics, cultural studies, and equality, work and organisations. It is primarily concerned with how human behaviour is shaped by social, cultural, economic and political processes, and the organisation of society and its major institutions, like the family and the state.

Sociology also examines how it is that individuals develop convictions, emotions, identities and an understanding of the world within the context of social relationships they have, and how, in turn, human beings shape the social world.

Through studying courses within the Sociology programme, student develop a range of intellectual and practical skills, and will find themselves challenging common sense assumptions about the social world and what is natural.
