Suffrage, Solidarity and Strife: Political Partnerships and the Women's Movement 1880-1930

I started my life at Greenwich as a mature student back in 1990 and - apart from a short spell as a post graduate at the London School of Economics - I have been here ever since!  I have held numerous posts within the University including:

  • Managing the Teaching and Learning at the Environment-Science-Society Interface (TALESSI) Project (supported by HEFCE's Fund for the Development of Teaching and Learning, 1997-2001)
  • Setting up the Combined Honours undergraduate programmes across the University (1999-2000)
  • Programme Leader for the Combined Extended and History degrees (2000-present)
  • School of Humanities Employability Co-ordinator (2006-2007)
  • History Placements Co-ordinator (2007-present)
  • Working with the Archives Project Leader (ongoing)
  • Educational Development Co-ordinator 2007-2009
  • History Programme Leader (2008-10)
  • I am currently Director of Resources

I am interested in and committed to Learning and Teaching initiatives which are innovative and student focused.  In July 2008, I was made a University Teaching Fellow in recognition of my contribution in the delivery and development of teaching here at Greenwich.

I teach on a range of History based courses as well as delivering guest lectures to other Programmes across the University.

My research interests include:

  • The British Suffrage Movement
  • Bigamy and gender relations during the First World War
  • The development of Public History as a discipline
  • Family and Community History
  • Oral History

I am also interested in the use of archives as teaching and learning resouces and actively encourage students to get involved with local archives.  I also work with local schools to promote history and support the AS/A2 level curriculum.
