Chemistry & Pharmaceutical Sciences

From forensic science and chemistry to pharmaceutical science and human nutrition. Whatever you choose to study you will be taught by experienced staff in state-of-the-art labs and gain important skills.

Chemistry has never been more important. Chemistry will play a fundamental role in overcoming many of the challenges we face today. It has a key part to play in the detection and fight against disease, in combating climate change, pollution and carbon emissions, or in power generation and the development of greener fuels.

Our MChem, Chemistry BSc and HNC degrees not only produce graduates that are skilled in practical science across the traditional themes of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry, but are also numerate and able to apply their scientific training to a range of current problems. As such, graduates are able to forge careers not only in the chemical industry, but also have the breadth of skills to enable access to many other diverse areas of employment.

You will be taught by internationally recognized authorities in their fields. Our programme offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time study, along with the possibility of industrial placements. Building on close links with the chemical industry, we have a long history of part-time teaching of students who can remain in the workplace during their studies. For example, our HNC Chemistry not only gives part-time students the same opportunities as a full-time student, but also offers a highly flexible learning experience. Our part-time students often start studying on our self-contained HNC Chemistry before progressing onto a full BSc.

BSc Chemistry at the University of Greenwich is now recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry
