What the Students Say About MSc Environmental Conservation

Pavel Votapek

Having come to the University of Greenwich with a background in Philosophy, much was entirely new to me. However, the course was challenging and incredibly interesting, not to mention rewarding. I have received very individualistic support from the University lecturers throughout and after the course of study. Thanks to them I have not only been able to complete my MSc but also got placement on the graduate scheme with Entec UK. This soon lead to me being able to get a job as an Environmental Consultant at the Dounreay nuclear site in Scotland. As such I can happily say that the MSc in Environmental Conservation had changed my life.

I’ve just completed my degree in Environmental Conservation. As an international student I would say, studying in Greenwich University has made a big change in my academic profile. Particularly designed field trips in this course helped us to gain practical knowledge in completely diverse and different environments. Whilst studying, lecturers also assisted me to get practical work experience with different companies. These work experiences will have a big influence in my professional career. Moreover the professional and friendly environment of my campus made me successful in the completion of my degree.

I am really grateful to my departmental lecturers, the School of Science office, Student Centre and Job Shop staff.

Tony Witts

I came to the the University of Greenwich after a decade in the fresh produce industry, having done my first degree in Biology in the early nineties. My interest in birds led me to undertake my masters project studying the invertebrate prey of Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) on one of the premier National Nature Reserves in the country, Elmley NNR on the Isle of Sheppey. This has given me a keenness for entomology and botany.

I work part-time at the Kent & Medway Biological Records Centre where I have developed skills in GIS and have contact with many of Kent's leading wildlife experts. Additionally, through part of my project involving conservation grazing. I am working on a short-term contract for Natural England.
