MSc Formulation Science at the University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich is the only university in the UK to offer an MSc in Formulation Science.
Formulation Science is the study of how a product can be made from a blend of materials or ingredients.
This is critical in a wide range of products, ranging from pharmaceuticals through cosmetics, paints and inks to food and oil. Understanding how each ingredient influences the final product quality is vital and means that Formulation Science is a truly multidisciplinary subject. Our MSc Formulation Science reflects this and covers physical and analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical science and chemical engineering along with important elements relevant to industry such as product development, regulations and management. This will give graduates a good opportunity to develop their flexibility and breadth of knowledge.
Our MSc Formulation Science is designed for students with a good background in the physical or life sciences and are motivated to work a wide range of industries, such as the pharmaceutical, food, health care, paint industries. The degree provides you with the scientific basis behind formulation, highlighted using both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical examples from industry. Important “real-life” considerations like product development, quality control and the regulatory framework are also covered giving you the opportunity to formulate and to test your formulations, both individually and as part of a team.
Many of our teaching staff have direct industrial experience as well as a strong theoretical knowledge of the subject and a proven research track record. This research and industrial experience is reflected in the teaching content and style on this masters degree.
