Formulation and Preformulation Science
Key staff: Professor John Mitchell, Professor Martin Snowden, and Professor Dick Hyde.
Medway Sciences draws together some of the country’s leading experts in polymer, colloid and formulation chemistry, excipient characterisation and drug stability. It has secured research, training and consultancy contracts with government and industry, especially in Kent and elsewhere in the south-east of England.
Our research work is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, ICI, Johnson & Johnson, Vanguard Medica, Roche and Phase Separations.
The department has strong industrial collaborations with Pfizer, including a scheme involving ten post-doctoral research fellows who are employed by Medway Sciences through the University of Greenwich but work at the research and development laboratories of Pfizer at Sandwich, Kent.
