Biography
Dr Allgrove is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology and Programme Leader in Sports Science at the University of Greenwich, UK.
Dr Allgrove obtained her BSc in Physiology from the University of Bristol. Following a brief period teaching at the University of Toulouse, South West France, Dr Allgrove studied for her MSc and PhD in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University where she worked in the area of Exercise and Immunology with Professor Mike Gleeson (2004-2007).
After carrying out a post working as a Research Assistant at Loughborough University, she joined the School of Science, University of Greenwich in October 2007 where she is pursuing her own research interests in exercise immunology and nutrition, and developing methods for the detection and quantification of salivary biomarkers using mass spectrometry for clinical and biopharmaceutical significance.
Dr Allgrove is involved in several externally funded projects in collaboration with industry including Yakult, MaxiNutrition and Energizer Brands. In addition to her research and teaching activities, she has been involved in providing scientific support to a variety of organisations including British Swimming, England Rugby and Professional Football Clubs.
