Biography
Jenny Strickland is a New Zealand qualified Chartered Physiotherapist by profession and Senior Lecturer in Functional Anatomy and Sports Injuries at the University of Greenwich Centre for Sport and Human Performance. She joined the University of Greenwich in 1997 having spent her prior years in clinical practice and has particular responsibility for functional anatomy and biomechanics as they relate to sports injuries, and prevention strategies.
Jenny has extensive experience of working with athletes and teams from International to recreational level, including NZ Women’s Hockey, Basketball, Netball and England Cricket and Lacrosse; as well as lead Physiotherapist for the Athletics venue at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Her early professional career was spent working in specialist Sports Injury Clinics in New Zealand and the UK including Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and Greenwich Hospital (NHS) Trust.
Having gained a Post-graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University, Jenny decided to formalise her academic development and is currently studying for her PhD investigating childhood apophyseal injuries such as Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease. She also continues her clinical practice and runs specialist Sports Injury Clinics in Dartford and at the University of Greenwich in Medway.
