Money Week

Money week 9 - 13 November 2009

Money week means thinking about your finances in a different way, looking at how you can make those all important savings and who you can contact if you need a bit of help along the way.

Why should I go to Money week?

Students have changing circumstances and different needs, for example moving away from home for the first time or leaving employment to return to study. Sometimes managing money can seem hard and we want to prevent this. Finding out more or talking to an adviser can really help.

Whether you are new to university or a continuing student, we can give you advice and information on money matters - paying tuition fees, applying for student financial support, thinking about credit options, maximising your income, part-time employment or finding out about bursaries and scholarships.

Being at University may be your first time managing a budget or you may just want some new tips to make sure you are getting all that’s available to you – so don’t miss out, come to Money week!

What will happen in Money week?

Money week will provide:

  • support, advice and guidance through workshops
  • valuable information to help you make informed decisions
  • leaflets, handouts and activity sheets for you to work through atyour own pace
  • an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions from a wide range of money professionals.

No matter who we are or what we do, managing our money matters.

Sometimes balancing the money you have coming in with what you spend may not be easy so Money week is here to help. Money week is flexible: you can come to a workshop, pick up a leaflet or just drop by for a chat with one of our professional advisers. Money week is part of the work we are doing with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and ‘Money Doctors’, a nationwide project developed in collaboration with universities across the country to help students make more informed decisions about their finances, manage their money better and in turn bring benefits to their time at University. This is the University’s first Money week, providing students with financial information and advice from professional finance advisers and speakers from the finance industry. We really hope you will come along, get involved and be informed.
