Aims
In September 2008 the government framework for 0-5 year olds was introduced. The Early Years Foundation Stage promotes and outlines guidance for learning, development and care.
In order to implement the Early Years Foundation Stage here at Avery Hill Nursery we aim to:
- to provide a high standard of childcare practice, by creating a stimulating, safe and happy environment in which our children can play and learn
- to help children develop lively and enquiring minds, giving them the ability to question, discover new skills and solve problems
- to encourage social skills and develop friendship
- to provide a wide range of equipment and activities which encourages concentration, self motivation, the concept of sharing, awareness of each other’s needs and help each child to reach their full potential
- to prepare children to enjoy a happy life as a member of a multicultural and multi ethnic community in which they will continue to learn and develop
- to ensure all 3 and 4 year olds attending our nurseries are given a foundation to achieve in the six areas of learning before they enter compulsory schooling
To achieve the above aims, the nursery has monthly staff meetings. The meetings are used to plan varied activities and to organise events which involve parental involvement and to discuss other issues concerning the children and parents/carers at the Nursery.
