Mature Students

|
“I am a mature student and it is quite difficult to return to academic life; but the University of Greenwich helped me a lot. |
Mature students are defined as over 21 years of age at the start of their programme. We actively encourage mature students to apply and we do our utmost to ensure that life skills and work experience are valued as much as formal academic qualifications. Mature students with some advanced study can be admitted directly into the second or even later year of a programme.
If you are a mature student without formal qualifications, you can still apply to us. We look at each case individually and our main concern is that you will benefit from, and successfully complete, your chosen programme. Any information that supports your application should be included in your personal statement on the application form. The university welcomes applicants who have successfully completed a ‘kitemarked’ access course.
Access courses provide an entry into higher education for mature students who have been traditionally under represented in this area. Staff from the pre-entry and access team at the university are happy to offer advice and guidance on a range of educational opportunities for non-traditional entry students and can be contacted on 020 8331 7868. Advice is also available on adjusting to the rigours of study after a break from education, and on balancing the competing demands of programme and family. Facilities such as our nursery are there to help.
